The National Food Agency says it has fined JSC Nikora Trade Libre store in Tbilisi Rustavi Highway 19 after an unscheduled inspection triggered by reports on social media about a cat in a food area.
The Agency says the state control revealed repeated critical non-compliances at the facility, as well as the sale of expired food products. As a result, the business operator was fined 5,000 GEL and a specific production process was suspended.
The Agency says expired food was sealed and will be destroyed under its supervision.
It urges consumers to pay attention to labeling, storage and sales conditions when purchasing food products, and to report violations via the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hotline 1501.
