EU Enlargement Report on Georgia to be released today

The European Commission is set to publish its 2025 Enlargement Package today, November 4, detailing the progress made by Georgia and other candidate or potential candidate countries on their paths toward EU membership.

The report will be presented in Brussels by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas during a press conference attended by members of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET).

The debate will center on the state of democratic reforms, rule of law, and alignment with EU standards across enlargement countries. Following the presentation, AFET rapporteurs will begin drafting country-specific resolutions, summarizing the European Parliament’s conclusions and recommendations.

The EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, confirmed earlier that the document would offer a comprehensive assessment of Georgia’s progress over the past year:

“It will be a very long and substantial document, presented by the European Commission, which will describe in detail what has happened in Georgia over the past year,” Herczynski said. “November 4 is a very important date — a press conference will be held in Brussels by Vice-President Kaja Kallas and Commissioner Marta Kos. On the same day, I will also hold a press conference in Tbilisi to answer detailed questions about how well or badly Georgia is doing.”

The enlargement report is expected to be a crucial indicator of Georgia’s standing in the EU integration process, particularly in light of ongoing concerns about political polarization, judicial independence, and media freedom.
