In 2020 the unemployment rate in Georgia increased by 0.9 percentage points compared to 2019
and amounted to 18.5%, says the latest report by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
“In 2020 labor force (economically active population) constituted 50.5% of the working age
population (population aged 15 and older).
“The Labor force participation rate (economic activity rate) declined 1.3 percentage points, while the employment rate by 1.5 percentage points compared to the previous year.
“The Labour force participation rate (economic activity rate) in urban settlements decreased by 0.3 percentage points and by 2.6 percentage points in rural settlements compared to the previous year. The employment rate in urban settlements as well as in rural areas decreased by 1.3 and 1.8 percentage points respectively,” says Geostat.
