Following the questioning of Giorgi Bachiashvili at Gldani Medical Institution No. 18, his lawyer Davit Jandieri told journalists that the investigation was given a detailed account of the alleged attack on Bachiashvili inside his prison cell.
Jandieri says Bachiashvili described the events that took place during his time in isolation, as well as during his transport to and from Vivamedi Clinic. While no new individuals were named in the case, some identities have been clarified. Bachiashvili once again requested that surveillance footage be secured and reviewed to provide an objective account of the incident.
“The information was provided with such precision that investigators should now be able to fully reconstruct what happened,” Jandieri said, noting uncertainty about the next steps in the investigation.
Jandieri also announced his intention to contact the Public Defender’s Office and urged them to visit Bachiashvili over the weekend for monitoring purposes.
For context, Bachiashvili, the former head of the Co-Investment Fund, recently released a letter from Gldani Prison claiming he was assaulted on July 11. He alleged that days earlier, on July 8, the head of Institution No. 8, Davit Gogoberishvili, had pressured him to disclose all his financial data and crypto account details linked to Bidzina Ivanishvili.
