City Council’s new proposal that dictates Tbilisi’s 2025 budget to increase by an additional GEL 62.5 million, bringing the total to GEL 2.27 billion, is currently under review. Mayor Kakha Kaladze said the funds will be allocated primarily to infrastructure upgrades and social programs across the capital. This is the second budget expansion this year. In January, the council approved a GEL 180 million increase to support the city’s ongoing and planned initiatives.
Kaladze emphasized that while progress has been made, significant urban challenges are still present. “We are committed to tackling them head-on,” he said, noting that next few years will be critical for Tbilisi’s transformation.
Pointing to the role of public backing, the mayor credited Tbilisi residents for consistently supporting the administration since 2017. “Their trust allows us to move forward confidently. We’re entering a pivotal phase, and more transformative projects will be announced soon,” he added.
The proposal shows a continuation of the city’s accelerated development agenda, with a strong focus on improving infrastructure and overall quality of life for Tbilisi residents.
