UNM MP: Georgian PM wasn’t invited to NATO summit because he carries out anti-Ukrainian, anti-Western, anti-state policy

Irakli Garibashvili was not invited to NATO because he voices and carries out anti-Ukrainian, anti-Western and, accordingly, anti-state policy, including blaming the war in Ukraine on NATO, – Tina Bokuchava, a member of the National Movement, stated at the plenary session when she spoke about the ongoing NATO summit in Vilnius.

She claimed that the NATO summit is now strategically important for Georgia, although the Georgian government is busy organizing a campaign of violence.

“Today, the government of Georgia should work for Georgia to get membership in NATO like Ukraine, without MAP, i.e. in an accelerated manner, but instead we see that the Russian Dream is busy organizing a campaign of violence – against the youth, the media, the opposition. The Russian Dream does not shy away from violence against pensioners. We saw such violence in Kaspi and Sagarejo, where the chairman and leaders of the UNM meeting with pensioners were confronted by mercenary bandits of the Russian Dream banditocracy, who are financed with the money of Georgian citizens. They do this instead of solving the problems of Georgian citizens, instead of being concerned about pensions and the many problems faced by pensioners. Instead of all this, they are engaged in violence. Violence against all groups, including vulnerable groups such as pensioners,” said Bokuchava.

Against this background, she added, the former diplomats are talking about expanding the sanctions against Georgia.

“Irakli Garibashvili was not even invited to NATO. He was not invited precisely because he voices and carries out anti-Ukrainian, anti-Western and, accordingly, anti-state policies, including blaming NATO for the war in Ukraine. We heard from this tribune that Mr. Garibashvili even blames the UNM for this war. That is why today, the Prime Minister of Georgia is not even invited to the NATO summit, where Georgia had the opportunity to get a guarantee together with Ukraine at this historical moment, that it would quickly become a member of NATO without the MAP. Instead, there is an international context where more and more people are talking about sanctions against Georgia, against the highest officials of Georgia, not only judges who are already sanctioned by the US, but also other people who are involved in illegal and anti-state decisions, such as among them the illegal imprisonment of President Saakashvili. Such a call was made by former US ambassadors in Georgia, who are great friends of Georgia and have been working for the Euro-Atlantic future of our country for many decades, but today they say that the sanctions should be expanded,” said Bokuchava.

The Georgian delegation participating in the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11-12 is headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili.
