Nika Gvaramia apologizes to the President for insulting statements he made

“I don’t like myself in these videos. It is disgusting to treat a woman like that. I am sorry for this and I apologize to her for this,” Nika Gvaramia, director general of Mtavari Arkhi, said after leaving prison, thus answering a question regarding the insulting statements made by him towards the President in the past.

He claimed that he is not going to be “obstinate in his mistake” and neither should President Salome Zurabishvili, who should release the third president, Mikheil Saakashvili.

“I am not going to be obstinate in my mistake. I don’t like myself in the videos, which I highly suspect will be used against her these days. It is disgusting to treat a woman like that. I am sorry for that and I apologize to her for that. She [Salome Zurabishvili] also should not be obstinate in her mistake as the President of this country and she should release Mikheil Saakashvili,” Gvaramia said.

According to Gvaramia, he did not ask for a pardon because he does not plead guilty.

“I didn’t think and still don’t think that I should need to ask for a pardon, because I think I’m innocent. I’m sure of that and I’m also sure that I’ll prove it,” Gvaramia said.

When asked about his plans, Nika Gvaramia said that he does not intend to return to rule Mtavari Arkhi channel.

“The main thing I’m going to do is to get Mtavari Arkhi out of the trouble it’s in, but I’m not going to rule it. I’ll be its founder, as I am now, but the channel has survived, it proved it can survive without me, moreover it can be better without me,” he said.
