The opposition parties have announced they are ready to postpone the rally scheduled for February 25.
The leader of the United National Movement Khatia Dekanoidze stated at the joint briefing of the opposition that there is no alternative to negotiations.
She pointed out that the current political crisis should be resolved by the government and the opposition through dialogue, adding that the resignation of Giorgi Gakharia over the decision to arrest the UNM Leader Nika Melia has further deepened the political crisis.
“We had scheduled a rally marking the 100th anniversary of the Russian occupation on February 25 with the participation of UNM Chairman Nika Melia. However, we, as a highly responsible political spectrum, which cares about the political and democratic future of this country, are ready, along with negotiations, to again give time and space for a compromise to the government and to postpone the planned rally in order to sit down at the negotiating table and fulfill the demands of our partners,” Khatia Dekanoidze said.
