Giorgi Bakhuashvili, the former head of security for Georgian Dream founder and honorary chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili, has been appointed Deputy Head of Georgia’s State Security Service (SSSG), just about a month after being named Deputy Interior Minister.
Based on an official decree signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Bakhuashvili assumed the new post on July 6.
Georgia’s Interior Ministry announced Bakhuashvili’s appointment as its sixth deputy minister on June 10.
Bakhuashvili holds the rank of Police Colonel. Over the years, he has served in the Interior Ministry’s Special Tasks Department and the Protection Police. Before joining the ministry’s leadership, he headed Bidzina Ivanishvili’s personal security team.
