Russia’s public threats against the Baltic states are “completely unacceptable,” President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said in a post on social media.
Von der Leyen claimed that a threat against one member state of the European Union constitutes a threat against the bloc as a whole.
“Let there be no doubt: a threat against one Member State is a threat against our entire Union,” von der Leyen wrote.
She further stated that Russia and Belarus bear direct responsibility for drones that endanger the lives and security of people living along the EU’s eastern flank.
“Russia and Belarus are directly responsible for drones threatening the lives and security of people on our eastern flank,” the European Commission President stated.
Von der Leyen stressed that Europe would respond with unity and determination.
“We will continue strengthening the security of our eastern flank through strong collective defense and enhanced preparedness at all levels,” she wrote.
