US allocates USD 10 million defense grant to Georgia

The United States government has agreed to allocate approximately USD 10 million in grant assistance to Georgia’s Ministry of Defense, as part of ongoing bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries.

The funding transfer was authorized following a decision by the Georgian government and formalized through a decree signed by Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Based on the decree, the grant will be directed to the Ministry of Defense and is intended to support defense-related programs and needs. While detailed spending priorities have not been publicly disclosed, such assistance typically focuses on strengthening defense capabilities, enhancing interoperability with NATO standards, and supporting institutional and technical development within Georgia’s armed forces.

The allocation comes amid continued US support for Georgia’s sovereignty, security, and defense reforms, particularly in the context of regional security challenges and Georgia’s long-standing partnership with the United States.
