Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reminded citizens that traffic restrictions remain in effect in central Tbilisi in connection with events dedicated to Georgia’s Independence Day.
Ministry says traffic movement on Rustaveli Avenue toward Freedom Square remains restricted until 08:00 on May 27, specifically on the section extending to the intersection with Zurab Chichinadze Street.
During this period, vehicles traveling along Rustaveli Avenue will be able to move as far as Gia Chanturia Street. From there, drivers can turn left and continue via Chanturia and Virsaladze streets to the right embankment of the Mtkvari River, connecting to Nikoloz Baratashvili Street.
The MIA also noted that traffic remains restricted around Freedom Square and adjacent areas. In addition, vehicle movement near the Presidential Palace, on Atoneli Street, will remain limited until the end of May 28.
Vehicles traveling from Soliko Virsaladze and Giorgi Chanturia streets toward Atoneli Street will be redirected via Italy Street in the direction of Dry Bridge. Meanwhile, drivers heading from Dry Bridge toward Atoneli Street will be able to use Virsaladze and Chanturia streets.
Transport coming up from the right embankment of the Mtkvari River named after Zviad Gamsakhurdia (from Rena Abzhandadze Street) will be able to travel toward Vakhtang Orbeliani Street and then continue in the direction of Mtkvari Street.
Additionally, until May 28, traffic restrictions remain in place near Dry Bridge, including on Italy and Atoneli streets.
During the restriction period, vehicles moving from Saarbrücken Square toward Dry Bridge will be redirected to the right embankment of the Mtkvari River via Giovanni Scudieri Street. Vehicles traveling from Virsaladze Street toward Dry Bridge will move toward Atoneli Street and then turn right in the direction of Chanturia Street, the MIA said.
