Just prior to the October 26 elections, Transparency International Georgia has voiced concerns about the misplacement of administrative resources by the government.
The organization highlighted the thin line between the ruling party and the state itself as the primary reason of concern, as they intertwine further and further. Such displacement of boundaries between these two has resulted in the ruling party exploiting public resources for their own agenda, TI Georgia claims.
Their mMain concerns include the adoption of the ‘Russian law’, and harassment of civil society and media.
The organization mentioned alterations in legislation such as the demolition of the gender quota and brand new CEC procedures as “undesirable.”
TI Georgia strongly advised the government to inspect cases of violence and maintain stability ahead of elections.
