Shepherds are holding a protest near Rustavi, close to the automobile market, over restricted access to traditional seasonal sheep transportation routes, Mautskhebeli reports from the location.

The demonstrators say the land along the route has been gradually alienated over the years, forcing them to pass through privately owned plots when moving livestock seasonally.

Shepherds claim some landowners are now demanding payment for passage, which has created ongoing difficulties in transporting sheep along the Rustavi highway.

Protest participants are calling on the state to intervene and designate official routes for livestock movement.

They say sections of the road traditionally used for sheep transportation have been absorbed into private property over time, leaving no viable alternative paths for herders.
