The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged 3 people detained on charges of violence against journalist Vakho Sanaia.
The prosecution charged the defendants with three criminal offenses: Article 156, Part 2, Subparagraph A, Article 151, Part 1, and Article 126, Part 1. If approved, the charge carries up to 3 years in prison.
“The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia pursues a strict criminal policy on crimes committed on the grounds of intolerance of discrimination and combating this category of crimes is one of the priorities of the agency.
We emphasize that violence and persecution against journalists are categorically unacceptable. The prosecution will take all necessary actions provided for by the legislation of Georgia to protect the legitimate interests of the victim,” the prosecutor’s office said.
