The forecast data for the results of the European Parliament elections are known.
At the moment, the preliminary results of 15 of the 27 EU countries are known, based on which the European People’s Party (EPP) continues to dominate, followed by the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). Based on the preliminary results, Renew Europe is in third place.
This means that, like the previous European Parliament elected in 2019, these three political groups will most likely form the ruling coalition even after the 2024 elections.
According to the preliminary forecast, the mandates in the 720-seat European Parliament will be distributed as follows:
People’s Party of Europe – 186
Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats – 133
Renew Europe – 83
European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) – 73
Identity and Democracy – 60
Greens/EFA – 53
Leftist – 36
The same forecast shows that 50-50 mandates are distributed to parties that do not belong to any of the above groups and to new, unaffiliated deputies.
It should be noted that the partner parties of the European People’s Party in Georgia are National Movement and European Georgia, and the political family of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) included in the Renew Europe group unites 5 opposition parties from Georgia: Lelo, ” Strategy Aghmashenebeli, Girchi- More Freedom, Republican Party and Free Democrats. Regarding the ruling party Georgian Dream, it currently does not have a partner European party.
