Opposition parties do not recognize “stolen election” results, vow to protect their votes

Georgia’s opposition parties have said they do not recognize the 2024 parliamentary election results, claiming that the elections were “stolen.” They have promised that they will fight to protect their votes.

Coalition for Change – Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa – says Georgian Dream will have to recognize the victory of the opposition.

“We have worked out the scheme by which the elections were stolen. We are going to protect the votes. The authors of the constitutional coup will face consequences established by the legislation,” said one of the leaders of the coalition, Nika Gvaramia.

He noted that today, the coalition will discuss the election fraud.

Chairman of “Unity – National Movement” Tina Bokuchava says that the opposition won with a large margin and the coalition “does not recognize the results of the stolen elections”.

“The CEC carried out Ivanishvili’s dirty order and announced results, which show that the oligarch stole the victory of the Georgian people and thereby stole the country’s European future. We declare that we do not accept the results of stolen and hijacked elections. We are not going to recognize this stolen and hijacked result.

“We believe that the victory won by the people belongs to the country and the opposition, which was given a mandate of trust by the people, and not to a single party.

“We will fight like never before and will not accept the results of stolen elections. We have already met the future coalition partners and I am sure that the next government will be a coalition government. In the next few hours we will make a statement on how we will act to protect this result, which was a great victory for our country,” said Bokuchava.

Natia Mezvrishvili, Chair of the Gakharia for Georgia party, says they have evidence of election fraud and voter bribery, and the party has already filed complaints with the relevant authorities.

“We will wait for the announcement of the final results. But meanwhile we will work to present this evidence to local and international observers,” she said.

The coalition “Strong Georgia” says that the preliminary results announced by the CEC do not correspond to the real will of the citizens. The coalition leaders have not announced whether they will recognize the election results.

“We are enraged by what the Georgian Dream dared to write,” said Ana Dolidze.

“What the CEC has announced is against the will of our citizens. This is the result of manipulation, intimidation and illegal instruments, and cannot reflect the will of the citizens. The support we received obliges us to fight for the protection of each vote,” said Badri Japaridze.

“We will use all peaceful and democratic means to save our country’s democracy and the European future,” said Levan Tsutskiridze.

“We were told the desired outcome of the Dream. It is offensive. As a responsible force, we will fight to protect each vote,” said Aleko Elisashvili.
