Nino Sukhishvili, the director and head of the Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvilebi,” stated that she will never go to Russia in the name of the state ensemble.

“I certainly cannot say that Russia is our friendly country,” said Nino Sukhishvili on TV Formula. “It has never been, if we look back at history, it was never friendly towards Georgia, and this attitude is incomprehensible to me. Unity is broken and opinions are divided, which is very painful….

Who is supposed to tell me anything? Am I the state ensemble, or if someone tells me something, that is the state. I will always defend the interests of my state, whoever is in power – in the name of the state ensemble, I will never go to Russia, because 20% of my country is occupied by them, and I consider it incorrect to go there on tour.”

Recently, statements have been circulated by “Georgian Dream,” in which they accuse certain representatives of the cultural sector of having relations with Russia after the 2008 war. Georgian Dream representative and parliamentary majority leader Irakli Kirtskhalia made the following statement: “A number of people serve foreign interests. An example of this is the list of so-called cultural figures who did not refrain from working in Russia between 2008 and 2022, including Sukhishvili, Nikoloz Rachveli and Paata Burchuladze.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Kobakhidze published an extensive post, stating that anti-Russian sentiments were not formed after the 2008 war, which happened at the behest of the “Deep State.” He claimed that the agency manifested radical anti-Russian sentiment only in 2022, following the events in Ukraine.
