By government decision, the Writers’ House will be transformed into a union of writers’ museums starting May 25.
Several museums will become structural units of the Writers’ House, including the Ilia Chavchavadze State Museum in Saguramo and Kvareli, the Akaki Tsereteli State Museum, the Galaktion and Titsian Tabidze House-Museum, the Vazha-Pshavela House-Museum, the Iakob Gogebashvili House-Museum and the Ivane Machabeli Museum.
The current director of the Writers’ House, Ketevan Dumbadze, must decide in the coming days whether to continue in the restructured institution or resign.
The May 20 government resolution states that the current director will be reappointed from May 25 upon written consent. If consent is not submitted by May 23, she will be dismissed in accordance with Georgian legislation.
Dumbadze has served as director of the Writers’ House since August 2023. She was appointed by former Culture Minister Tea Tsulukiani, who now represents Georgian Dream in parliament.
