Mikheil Saakashvili’s Trial To Be Held at Vivamedi Clinic

The trial of the third President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili will be held today at the Vivamedi Clinic. The decision was made by Tbilisi City Court Judge Nino Chakhnashvili.

At today’s hearing, prosecutor Levan Vepkhvadze filed a motion to hold a hearing at the clinic.

“Saakashvili is not allowed to be transported due to his condition. This does not automatically exclude the fact that he can participate in the trial. When the accused cannot be transported, the court goes to the facility where the accused is. This is not the first time. Courts have a practice of conducting hearings in clinics, prisons and other institutions”, Vepkhvadze said.

The defense did not agree with the motion. As lawyer Shota Tutberidze explained, the doctors’ report does not mention transportation but directly states that Saakashvili cannot attend the trial due to his health.

Vepkhvadze claimed that the defense did not submit a single document proving that Saakashvili is not able to participate in the trial.
