German international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) has launched a Georgian-language service, expanding its coverage for Georgian-speaking audiences.
The new editorial project officially went live on 3 August and is currently available on Instagram.
DW says the service will later expand to Facebook and YouTube. It will cover news from Georgia, Europe and around the world.
The Georgian-language service is initially planned to operate for 18 months. The project was launched with support from the European Union as part of the European Information Shield initiative, which aims to strengthen independent journalism and counter disinformation in strategically important regions.
The initiative is part of a broader regional effort, with partner media organizations also launching Armenian- and Azerbaijani-language projects for audiences across the South Caucasus.
