Nodar Meladze, the head of the news service of TV Pirveli, calls the accusation of the prosecutor’s office that the audio recordings in which Bera Ivanishvili, Irakli Garibashvili and Anzor Chubinidze participate are falsified.
“A story was prepared based on the records we received from an informed source. If you listen to the recordings, there is no interruption of content or anything like that. A statement made about a change of content is, of course, absurd. We did not expect anything else,” Meladze told Netgazeti.
Today, on June 18, the Prosecutor’s Office released information on the interim results of the investigation into the case of the audio recordings aired on TV Pirveli in March.
“The audio recordings used in journalist Nodar Meladze’s program on TV Pirveli, containing a conversation between Bera Ivanishvili, the son of former chairman of the Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili, and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, were falsified,” the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia said.
Prosecutor Amiran Guluashvili stated at the briefing today, June 18, that the audio recordings show traces of editing and absolutely all of them were made as a result of montage.
There is no investigation in the direction of the responsibility of journalists or media outlets for disseminating the recordings in public.
