Media: US military vessel reportedly hit by two missiles in Strait of Hormuz

A United States military vessel was reportedly struck by two missiles in the Strait of Hormuz after ignoring warnings from Iran, based on Iranian media reports cited by Reuters.

The incident allegedly occurred near Jask Island, where the ship was said to be navigating through the strategically vital waterway when it came under attack.

Reportedly, the vessel had been warned by Iranian authorities prior to the incident but failed to comply, prompting what Tehran described as enforcement action.

Earlier, a spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Mohebi, stated that any vessels violating Iran’s transit regulations in the Strait of Hormuz would be stopped “by force.”

He also urged shipping and insurance companies to adhere to directives issued by the Revolutionary Guard.

The reports have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate confirmation or comment from US officials.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints, through which a significant portion of global oil shipments pass, making any escalation in the area a matter of international concern.
