Massive cash and jewelry seized during searches of Garibashvili, Liluashvili, and Partskhaladze residences

The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) has announced the seizure of a vast amount of cash, jewelry, and other valuables during large-scale searches targeting the residences of former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, former head of the SSSG Grigol Liluashvili, former Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze, and several of their associates.

The agency says USD 7,002,200, GEL 136,000, 198 pieces of jewelry, valuable paintings, and thousands of pages of documentation were confiscated. Law enforcement officers also seized 50 mobile phones and 119 electronic devices, which are now being examined as part of an ongoing investigation.

The extensive searches were conducted on October 17 across multiple locations in Georgia, including Tbilisi, Dedoplistskaro, Vani, Chokhatauri, and Borjomi municipalities. In total, 24 apartments and houses were searched, involving approximately 230 officers from the SSSG and the Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities stated that the searches targeted not only the main suspects but also their relatives and affiliated individuals, including Romeo Mikautadze, Mikheil Chokheli, Vano and Tornike Parkauli, and Andria (Sandro) Liluashvili.

“The seized documentation and electronic data are currently under active examination by investigative teams. The origin of the confiscated money is being verified, and further procedural steps will follow once the analysis is complete,” the SSSG said in its statement.

The operation follows weeks of speculation surrounding the alleged financial and property-related misconduct of several high-profile former officials. Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze confirmed at a briefing that the searches were part of a broader investigation into possible illicit enrichment and abuse of power by former senior government figures.

This is the first major coordinated operation involving multiple former top officials since the recent political shake-ups within Georgia’s ruling elite. The authorities have pledged to disclose additional details as the investigation progresses.
