US Congressman Joe Wilson has criticized the Georgian delegation for walking out of the plenary session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly after the body adopted his resolution on Georgia.
“It is shameful that the Georgian delegation walked out when my resolution at the OSCE PA passed, condemning the pro-Iranian terrorist mafia regime that has taken over Georgia,” Wilson wrote on social media.
“Just wait till you see what we will pass next year at the Charleston meeting of the OSCE PA,” he added.
Wilson’s comments refer to the Georgian delegation’s decision to leave the plenary session in protest during the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly meeting in The Hague on July 8.
The congressman also welcomed the Assembly’s adoption of his resolution on Georgia.
“I was grateful that the OSCE PA passed my resolution on fundamental freedoms and democratic integrity in Georgia – an important move in support of President Trump’s strong foreign policy agenda and against war criminal Putin’s assault on our allies in Eastern Europe,” Wilson wrote.
In a separate post, Wilson announced that he had been unanimously elected chairman of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Committee on Political Affairs and Security.
“I was also unanimously elected the new Chairman of the Committee on Political Affairs and Security, which gives the United States a powerful position as we continue to combat Putin’s aggression,” he said.
Wilson also expressed disappointment over a decision regarding the Assembly’s future annual session.
“However, I am so disappointed that my colleague illegitimately declared the 2027 Charleston annual session canceled. It is never too late to do the right thing,” he wrote.
