Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said Georgia discussed cooperation on the construction of a new Tbilisi International Airport with representatives of Singapore’s Changi Airport operator during his official visit to Singapore.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, Kobakhidze said the government is interested in working with Changi on the project.
“We had a meeting with representatives of the Changi company. You know that we plan to build a new international airport in Tbilisi. Singapore Airport is distinguished by its high level of service and infrastructure, and cooperation with them in this direction will be very interesting for us,” the PM said.
Kobakhidze said the meetings in Singapore covered a wide range of issues, including political and economic cooperation, trade, education, healthcare and investment.
The PM noted that trade between Georgia and Singapore has increased significantly this year, adding that Georgian exports have risen by around two and a half times. He said the government aims to maintain this growth.
Kobakhidze also highlighted Singapore’s experience in education and healthcare, particularly in integrating modern technologies, saying Georgia plans to draw on that experience while implementing reforms.
The PM added that the Georgian delegation also met with business representatives to discuss attracting investment in fintech, information technology and artificial intelligence.
Kobakhidze said around 30 Singaporean companies currently operate in Georgia. He added that several bilateral agreements are under discussion and negotiations are expected to conclude soon.
