Kaja Kallas: Condemnation won’t stop attacks on Kyiv

The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has said that condemnation alone will not stop Russia’s attacks on Kyiv, following Moscow’s latest large-scale assault on the Ukrainian capital.

In a statement posted on social media, Kallas stressed that the attacks on Kyiv can only be brought to an end through continued military support for Ukraine and increased pressure on Russia.

“This week, the European Union began allocating €6 billion to strengthen Ukraine’s defense under the €90 billion loan framework. Today, I will propose sanctions against entities supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex in response to these strikes,” she wrote.

Kallas added that “the more Moscow attacks civilians, the more sanctions must follow,” arguing that stronger restrictive measures are necessary to increase pressure on Russia in response to its continued attacks on civilian targets.
