A new Industrial Symbiosis Network has been established in Georgia’s Adjara region to help with cooperation among local businesses and advance circular economy practices. The network encourages companies to share resources, reduce waste and optimize operations through collaboration.
The Industrial Symbiosis Network is part of the “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia” project, implemented by CENN in partnership with ICLEI Europe and supported by the European Union.
The initiative officially launched with a meeting held on July 23 in Batumi, bringing together representatives from the hospitality, retail and manufacturing sectors. Participants explored international models of industrial symbiosis and heard from a representative of Israel’s own symbiosis network.
Case studies from companies such as Silk Hospitality, Gogora, The Body Shop and the family-run hotel Thomas’s Cottage were presented to illustrate practical applications of circular business models.
The session concluded with member organizations signing a memorandum of understanding, showing their commitment to joint action on waste reduction and sustainable growth.
