Helsinki Commission: Congratulations to Georgians, Georgia often underestimated, but its people are mighty

The US Helsinki Commission has taken to social media to congratulate the Georgian people on their historic achievement in the UEFA EURO 2024, emphasizing Georgia’s strength and European identity.

“Congratulations to the people of Georgia on their historic achievement today in the Euros. Georgia is often underestimated, but we know its people are mighty and Georgia belongs in Europe. საქართველოს გაომარჯოს! [Long live Georgia!],” the Commission wrote.

The Georgian national team secured a 2:0 win against Portugal in their final group-stage match of the European Championship, thereby advancing to the round of 16 in the tournament.
