German federal police have arrested a Georgian national at Dortmund Airport, after finding out that he was wanted for serious crimes, including attempted murder.
The arrest occurred on March 22 during a routine inspection of a flight arriving from Turkey, when the authorities became suspicious of a 45-year-old man who provided conflicting information regarding his reason for entering Germany, despite presenting a valid passport and visa. Upon checking the database, it revealed discrepancies in his records.
Further investigation showed that the man was being actively searched for by German police for causing severe bodily harm and attempted homicide. After biometric verification, including DNA analysis and fingerprinting, the suspect was handed over to Wuppertal police for further legal proceedings.
