Heavy rainfall and melting snow in Dusheti Municipality on July 19 caused water levels in local rivers to rise, damaging a bridge near the village of Shenako, the Tusheti Protected Landscape administration reported.
The rising water washed away a bridge support, disrupting the road connection between Shenako and Diklo and the villages of Omalo and Bari.
The administration warned people not to approach the damaged section by vehicle, saying the landslide process remains active and poses a safety risk.
“Due to safety regulations, it is strictly forbidden to approach the damaged road section by transport, as the process of soil collapse is still dynamic,” the Tusheti Protected Landscape administration said.
It remains unclear when traffic will resume.
The administration called on residents and visitors in Shenako and Diklo to remain in their homes or family hotels and avoid moving toward the damaged bridge area.
Some social media users criticized the condition of the infrastructure, claiming the damaged section had been rehabilitated last year.
