Education and Science Committee endorses 2023 action plan

The Education and Science Committee endorsed the action plan for 2023, which was introduced by Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Chair of the Education and Science Committee.

As he notes, the Committee plans to strengthen the oversight/supervisory function.

For this purpose, the Committee will invite the subordinate bodies of the Ministry of Education for certain periods to hear their reports.

The Committee will also actively monitor the implementation of recommendations issued as a result of  thematic inquiries conducted in 2022.

Amilakhvari notes that in 2023, the Education and Science Committee is planning two new thematic studies in the direction of higher and professional education. The Chair of the Committee added that the Education and Science Committee will start working on the Education Code in 2023.

“In the parliament of the 10th convocation, it is our intention to draft an education code. We will begin open conversations with the opposition, the academic communities, and those who will benefit and who will be impacted, as well as non-governmental organizations. The code will be started following input from the experts,” Amilakhvari remarked.
