Danish Ambassador to Georgia, Anne Toft Sørensen, has urged the release of individuals unjustly detained during recent protests in Georgia, emphasizing concerns over police brutality and unreasonable charges.
“Today’s meeting revealed painful, personal stories from families & friends to detainees regarding police brutality, unnecessary pre-trial detentions, and unjust or excessive charges,” Sørensen wrote on X after meeting with the relatives of those imprisoned.
She pointed out the need for accountability, stating, “Impunity and injustice must end, and unjustly detained individuals must be released.”
Her posts add to the increasing international pressure on Georgian officials to treat protesters fairly and ensure their rights fairly.
