The Municipal Development Fund under the Ministry of Infrastructure has announced a competition for the design of a cognitive-tourist space and parking infrastructure near the Alaverdi Monastery Complex in Akhmeta Municipality, a cultural heritage monument of national importance.
The estimated purchase price of the project is 648,000 GEL.
The agency says the aim of the project is to create an environment that includes informational, educational and recreational spaces, while taking into account the cultural significance of the Alaverdi Monastery. It adds that visitor flow management should become simpler, more organized and safer.
The project envisions the construction of a reception area for visitors, an information center, exhibition and educational spaces, rest areas, sanitary facilities, walking paths, and viewing points.
It also includes a multipurpose parking area for both passenger cars and tourist buses, with electric vehicle charging stations planned on site.
The proposal includes improving lighting and security systems around the monastery, along with landscaping works, while ensuring maximum preservation of the surrounding natural environment.
The tourist and parking infrastructure is planned to be adapted for people with special needs.
