The Georgian Orthodox Church Patriarchate reiterated that media will not be permitted to attend the upcoming diocesan commission session in which Dorote Kurashvili has been summoned on disciplinary grounds. The comment was made by Deacon Andria Jagmaidze, head of the Patriarchate’s public-relations office, who stated that the decision is final: “This is not under consideration.”
Kurashvili, who faces a “strict warning” after skipping a prior hearing, has said he will refuse to participate unless the media are present. The Patriarchate described his demand for press presence at the October 29 session as “unprecedented and unacceptable,” citing “disciplinary, moral and defamatory” violations in his recent public statements.
