Azerbaijan urges Israel to reconsider recognition of Armenian Genocide

Azerbaijan has expressed serious concern over the Israeli government’s decision to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, calling on Israel to reconsider the move.

Azerbaijani media reports that the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that “distorting the historical facts related to the events of 1915 and reducing a complex historical issue to a political decision lacking a solid legal or scientific basis is unacceptable.”

The ministry argued that such actions undermine efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

“Such actions do not contribute to reconciliation or mutual understanding. On the contrary, they deepen existing divisions and undermine efforts to achieve sustainable peace and stability in the region. We call on the Israeli government to reconsider this decision,” the statement said.

The remarks came after the Israeli government unanimously approved a resolution officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide committed in the Ottoman Empire.
