Ukrainian drones strike oil refineries and logistics facilities across Russia, Zelensky says

Ukrainian drones targeted oil refineries, logistics facilities and military infrastructure across several Russian regions overnight, including Perm, Ryazan, Rostov and the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Russian officials reported at least three deaths and multiple injuries following the attacks.

In a statement, Zelensky said Ukrainian forces had struck oil refineries in Perm and Ryazan, a logistics center in Ryazan, an export terminal and military plant in the Rostov region, as well as a naval base in Crimea.

The attacks also affected Russia’s largest online retailer, Wildberries, which evacuated its warehouse in Ryazan after a fire broke out at the facility. Video verified by Reuters showed a large blaze at the warehouse. The company says drone strikes have damaged at least seven Wildberries warehouses in recent days, destroying about 10% of its storage capacity and affecting thousands of small businesses that use the platform.

In Ryazan, regional governor Pavel Malkov said industrial sites caught fire and six people sought medical treatment.

In the city of Perm, around 1,600 kilometres from Ukrainian-held territory, Governor Dmitry Makhonin said Ukrainian drones struck an industrial facility but caused no casualties.

In Russia’s southern Rostov region, Governor Yuri Slyusar said a woman was killed and a man injured after missile debris hit an apartment building in the port city of Taganrog.

On the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula, Moscow-installed governor Sergei Aksyonov said two people were killed and five others injured in overnight drone strikes.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities said a Russian drone attack on the southern city of Kherson killed one person and injured three others.

Russia’s Defense Ministry also claimed its forces struck two vessels carrying weapons and military equipment east of the Ukrainian port of Odesa.

Reuters reported that Ukraine has significantly expanded its long-range drone production, allowing it to strike Russian oil refineries and infrastructure deep inside the country, while Russia has intensified attacks on Ukrainian targets. Both sides have also increased strikes on vessels in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov in recent weeks, disrupting regional oil and grain supplies.

Reuters said it could not independently verify the battlefield claims made by either side.
