Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until sanctions on its oil sector are lifted, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said.
Ghalibaf said Tehran would keep the strategic waterway closed until the United States fulfills the conditions outlined in a memorandum of understanding.
“The Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until the blockade is lifted, frozen assets are released, sanctions are removed, and military operations and threats on all fronts come to an end,” Ghalibaf said.
He also warned that Iran was prepared to “inflict a heavier defeat on the enemy.”
Ghalibaf claimed that the opposing side had violated commitments undertaken as part of an agreement to end the war.
“As we anticipated, the enemy, which accepted the agreement to end the war out of desperation, soon violated its commitments in an attempt to compensate for its political defeat,” he said.
