A scuffle broke out at the 9th polling station in Zugdidi, where Salome Melia of ‘For Change’ reported that her husband and cousin were physically and verbally attacked by the supporters of Georgian Dream.
“My husband and cousin were waiting outside, and suddenly, this crowd came at them. It was terrifying. We pleaded for patrol assistance, but no immediate help arrived,” Melia told Interpressnews.
Despite the exact cause being uncertain, she thinks the assault may be related to her position in monitoring the election station. Although police eventually intervened, Melia stated that the calls went unanswered for a time.
