Arrested actor Andro Chichinadze has categorically rejected any discussion of a pardon, stating that he will not sign any document related to such a process. His statement was released by his lawyer, Tornike Migineishvili.
Chichinadze claimed that the only acceptable resolution to his case is an objective and impartial ruling by the Tbilisi Court of Appeal, comparable to a decision delivered by an independent judiciary.
“It seems I was unable to clearly convey my position several months ago, so I will state it once again and will not return to this issue,” Chichinadze said. “Do not even speak of any kind of pardon — I will not sign any document related to this matter.”
He also revealed that he recently refused an offer from the parole commission, stressing that judicial review, not clemency, is the only path he considers legitimate.
“The only possible solution acceptable to me is for the Tbilisi Court of Appeal to make an objective and impartial decision, as an independent court would,” the statement reads.
Chichinadze further addressed those who, he claimed, justified the persecution of women and directly called for the imprisonment of innocent individuals, stating that they should refrain from offering surety on his behalf.
Andro Chichinadze was sentenced to two years in prison for participating in a group protest.
