The Adjara Tourism Department plans to launch a specialized training program to improve the quality of guiding services in the region’s protected areas.
The two-month theoretical and practical course is designed to prepare hiking guides for work in Adjara’s main recreation territories, including Kobuleti Protected Areas, Machakhela National Park, Mtirala National Park and Kintrishi National Park.
Participants will receive training on natural resources, tourism products, trail systems, infrastructure and services available in these locations. The program will also cover broader topics such as Georgia’s protected areas system, environmental legislation, the role of guides and rangers, safety procedures, first aid, tour planning, time management, environmental ethics and visitor management.
In addition to classroom instruction, the course includes field training sessions within protected areas, as well as visits to the Batumi Botanical Garden and alpine botanical sites, where participants will study biodiversity and tourism potential in practice.
Applications for the program are open until May 11. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in at least one foreign language at a minimum B2 level, along with the necessary skills and physical readiness to lead tours in protected areas. Participants will be selected through an interview process.
The training is scheduled to begin in the second half of May and conclude by the end of June. Registration is available through the official service portal of the Adjara government.
