Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, during the latter’s official visit to Tbilisi.
Georgian Parliament reported that both sides reaffirmed the strong ties between the governments, legislatures, and peoples of Georgia and Armenia—relations that were elevated to a strategic partnership last year. Papuashvili underscored the positive momentum created by recent high-level exchanges, noting that these visits reflect the “close and active” cooperation between the neighboring states.
The discussion highlighted active parliamentary cooperation, including engagement between committee chairs, parliamentary friendship groups, and institutional delegations.
The meeting also touched on regional developments. Mirzoyan briefed Georgian lawmakers on the peace agreement initiated in Washington between Armenia and Azerbaijan, saying it has already produced tangible results, with negotiations continuing toward finalising and signing the accord. He also pointed to progress in Armenia–Türkiye relations.
Both sides agreed that the recent period of tension in the South Caucasus has given way to new opportunities and that increased stability could yield significant benefits for the entire region.
The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Speaker Giorgi Volski; Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Armenia; Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze; and members of the Armenian Friendship Group, Samvel Manukyan and Sumbat Kyureghyan.
