Tbilisi is moving forward with plans to build a modern tram line connecting Didi Digomi to the Didube metro station, with the tender expected to be announced by the end of this week.
Vice Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze stated that all procedures for the tender have been finalized, though the process was delayed due to legal requirements that needed approval from the regional ministry.
The 7.5-kilometer line will be built to European standards and include 11 stops and 10 tram carriages. As Tkemaladze pointed out, market research, conducted earlier this year, estimated the cost of the project at around EUR 110 million, covering both construction and carriages. However, he mentioned that the price may be adjusted as the project advances.
