Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Strategy Builder party, has been arrested following a court ruling. Law enforcement officers detained the politician at the party’s office shortly after the verdict was announced.
The court found Vashadze guilty of refusing to comply with a request from the temporary investigative commission of the Parliament. Judge Nino Galustashvili sentenced him to seven months in prison and imposed a two-year ban on holding public office.
Vashadze was not present at the court when the judgement was delivered.
