Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: I believed winning Champions League was possible

Following PSG’s stunning 5-0 victory in the Champions League final, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sat down for his first post-match interview with UEFA TV analyst and legendary Danish goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel.

Schmeichel opened the conversation with a pointed reflection:

“Khvicha, just four months ago, your situation looked very different. And now here you are – a Champions League winner, and not just by a narrow margin. You won 5-0! How does it feel in this moment?”

Kvaratskhelia: “It’s hard to put into words. This is unbelievable—I’m in shock. I still can’t fully grasp that I’m standing here as a Champions League winner. But I always believed it could happen. I’m incredibly happy. We achieved this together—me, the club, the coaches. It’s a shared victory.”

Schmeichel: “You have every reason to be proud. What you’ve delivered—not just today, but since joining PSG—has been nothing short of phenomenal. Where do you think this team can go from here? How long can this dominance continue?”

Kvaratskhelia: “I believe this team was ready to win the Champions League even before I arrived, but football is full of tough challenges. We had to overcome a lot. Winning 5-0 against Inter in the final—it says everything.”

Schmeichel: “It really looked like all of you were thriving under Luis Enrique’s system today.”

Kvaratskhelia: “The key is that we’re like a family. We support each other as much as we can. The coach is exceptional—he communicates everything clearly, and we do our best to bring his vision to life on the pitch.”

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s Paris Saint-Germain are the Champions League winners.

PSG won the UEFA Champions League final against Inter with a score of 5-0. One of the goals, the fourth in the match, was scored by the Georgian footballer Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Initially, the first half of the match ended with PSG leading 2-0: in the 13th minute, the opening goal was scored by PSG’s Achraf Hakimi. The team’s advantage was doubled by Désiré Doué in the 21st minute.

In the 64th minute, Doué scored again against Inter. In the 73rd minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored the fourth goal for PSG. The final goal of the match was scored by PSG’s Senny Mayulu in the 86th minute.

The Champions League final between French side PSG and Italian side Inter took place at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

For the first time in their history, Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League. The team had previously reached the final once, in 2020, when the Parisians lost to Bayern Munich.
