Law enforcement officers began using water jets against protesters at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue, preceded by demonstrators’ use of pyrotechnics and lasers during the protest.
Police officers had set up cordons around April 9 and Chichinadze streets, while Special forces were mobilized inside the Parliament building.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has stationed its officers around Freedom Square.
