O’Brien: Unless the law is changed, there will be restrictions placed on specific people & their families

James O’Brien, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, says that if the controversial bill is not changed and remains in its current form, there will be a corresponding reaction from the US.

“If this law remains as it is today, not in line with EU standards, if we see that there is a weakening of democracy and violence against peaceful demonstrators, of course there will be some restrictions from the US. First of all, these restrictions will affect the financial side and the travel of specific people and families who are responsible for these actions,” said O’Brien, who visited Tbilisi today, May 14.

O’Brien met with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, President Zurabishvili, the opposition and the civil sector.
