Tbilisi Republican Hospital to be overhauled into new clinic

The Georgian government, led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, has discussed a draft decree focused on implementing a new project for the Central University Clinic named after Academician Nikoloz Kipshidze.

Based on experts’ conclusions presented by the Prime Minister, reconstructing the existing building is deemed inappropriate and unprofitable. Instead, the plan is to dismantle the old structure and build a new, multi-disciplinary, high-tech medical facility—a new Republican Hospital.

The new facility is envisioned as a modern state clinic meeting international standards and covering various medical disciplines.

“The new Republican Hospital is expected to be a multi-functional institution with over 500 beds, including an outpatient clinic, a day hospital, a children’s oncology and hematology center, a central blood bank, and other essential facilities.

“The project will also maintain the status of a university clinic, allowing for the integration of future doctors in clinical activities,” the Administration stated.

The Labor Inspection Service will supervise the process to ensure the rights of medical staff are fully protected.
