Stoltenberg Stresses the Importance of Stepping Up Cooperation With Republic of Moldova, Georgia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina

The 68th Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NPA) was held on November 21 and was attended by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who emphasized the need to strengthen ties with Georgia.

In his remarks, Stoltenberg said that Sweden, Finland, and Turkey signed the Trilateral Memorandum in June. Sweden and Finland have fulfilled their promises and they are “strong partners in our joint fight against terrorism.”

As a result, the NATO membership process may now be finished, and Finland and Sweden can join as full members, Stoltenberg mentioned. “It will make our Alliance stronger, and our people safer,” he said.

“It is also time to step up our cooperation with our partners, near and far. With those most affected by Russian aggression and coercion. Like the Republic of Moldova, Georgia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he underlined.

Stoltenberg went on to say that cooperation should be improved with other like-minded governments throughout the world. North Africa to the Indo-Pacific area and from Latin America to the Middle East.

“We share security interests and face the same challenges. We can and should tackle them together. To defend freedom against oppression. Democracy against tyranny. And to uphold the international rules based institutions that benefit all of us,” he continued.
