Radio Liberty reports that Russian singer Kristina Orbakaite’s planned concert in Batumi on August 7, the eve of the 18th anniversary of the August 2008 war, has been canceled.
Orbakaite said the decision was unexpected for her, noting that many people had traveled to the resort city specifically because of her concert.
“The city administration and the concert venue administration somehow decided to do this, despite the fact that many people came to the resort specifically because of my concert,” Orbakaite said.
The singer has not held concerts in Russia since 2024. In 2025, she planned to perform in Latvia, but was banned from entering the country.
Orbakaite is the daughter of Russian singer Alla Pugacheva, who left Russia and has publicly opposed the war in Ukraine.
